From the jury´s reasoning: "We all have to die, but talking about death is difficult for many. Åsa Olsson’s doctoral project is therefore highly relevant, engaging patients, relatives, and healthcare staff, and giving them a voice. The wishes and priorities of the elderly are at the center of person-centered care. Preparatory conversations can contribute to open communication, knowledge exchange, and the opportunity to build trusting relationships. The project provides significant knowledge about conversations regarding end-of-life care for the elderly. The results can also be used for other patient groups and are relevant for clinically active healthcare professionals, especially nurses. The project contributes to the palliative research field and nursing research at large."
