On 1 June, SweTrial will open the 2026 calls for applications for government grants aimed at strengthening Sweden’s capacity to conduct clinical trials. The calls are aimed at organisations involved in clinical activities that wish to develop collaboration and national initiatives in this field.

The call for proposals aims to contribute to an increase in the number of clinical trials in Sweden through greater collaboration.

There are two funding streams:

•    Clinical trial networks – for collaboration between several regions within clearly defined areas of treatment, diagnosis or therapy.

•    National initiatives – for initiatives that strengthen Sweden’s capacity to conduct clinical trials and generate benefits at national level.

Key dates

• 29 May 2026 – online information sessions (same content, approx. 50 minutes)

•   1 June 2026 – calls for proposals open

• 15 August 2026 – deadline for applications

Staff, researchers and lecturers at KI involved in clinical activities are encouraged to review the calls for proposals and assess whether they may be relevant to ongoing or planned initiatives.
