Helena Kopp Kallner researches women’s health during different phases of life, from menstrual conditions to abortion, pregnancy, menopause and gynaecological diseases such as myoma and endometriosis. Her primary aim is to improve women’s quality of life, primarily through hormonal treatments.

“I want to make a difference, change healthcare for the better and help women attain their full potential,” she says.
By using clinical trials, she and her colleagues investigate how different novel treatments work. Amongst the most important advances are new treatments for myoma and adenomyosis and a new method for pain relief during the insertion of intrauterine contraceptive devices. She has also contributed to the methods currently in use for medical abortion at home and has created a model for contraceptive counselling that is being promoted worldwide.
“I really feel that my research has changed clinical practice and improved the lives of women – this is, after all, exactly what drives me to work even harder,” she says.
