New postdoctoral researcher at the Division of Nursing.

What will you be working on?

”I will be working as a postdoc on a project led by Zarina Nahar Kabir at the Department of Nursing, focusing on non-European family carers”, says Roar Hermansen Østby

What are you most looking forward to in your new job?

”Becoming even better at every stage of the research process. It will be exciting to work with new researchers.”

Where have you come from, and what have you done previously?

”I have worked at a memory clinic as a registered occupational therapist in the Västra Götaland Region. Before that, I was a doctoral student for four years at the Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg.”

What do you do when you are not working?

”I try to spend time with friends and practise Aikijujutsu.”

What are you reading at the moment?

”Right now I am between books. But when the holidays come around, it will probably be The Lord of the Rings again.”

What is the most beautiful place you have been to?

”I have been to so many places that are beautiful in their own way. But if I had to choose, it would be a mountain overlooking a fjord in Norway.”

What makes you really happy?

”Often simple things, like when a car stops at a pedestrian crossing while it is pouring with rain outside. That gives you hope for humanity.”
