I came to Karolinska Institutet at the end of June 2024 and stayed for a twelve-week research internship, funded by the RISE programme of the German academic exchange service (DAAD).

At KI, I worked together with Ingrid Ekström to explore the associations between olfaction and depression in studies from the NEAR network.

Although I recently returned to Germany, I will be affiliated with KI for another year, until end of August 2025, to complete the projects that emerged from my internship.

By profession I am a medical doctor, and I recently (this summer) graduated from the University of Cologne, Germany, where I am also pursuing a doctoral degree. The topic of my dissertation is the meta-analytic link between thyroid disorders and depression.

From October onwards, I will also be affiliated with the Hannover Medical School, where I will work as a medical doctor at the Department of Psychiatry.

My name is Peiyu Jiang, and I am originally from China. I completed my undergraduate studies in Statistics in China before pursuing a master's degree in Statistics at Uppsala University, Sweden.

During my studies, I gained experience with various statistical models, including linear regression, time series models, categorical data analysis, and machine learning, with R as my primary tool for analysis.

I am currently working at Karolinska Institutet (KI) as a Database Coordinator and Statistician in the Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences, and Society (NVS) at the Aging Research Center (ARC), in the NEAR group. My main responsibilities include supporting researchers with data cleaning, harmonization, and providing statistical analysis support.
