Research and education about dementia on the agenda during state visit to India

During 1–6 of December 2019, Maria Eriksdotter, Dean at KI South, participated in a state visit to India together with the King and Queen of Sweden. The programme of the visit focused on sustainable innovation and ageing.

Maria Eriksdotter was part of roundtable discussions about elderly care and dementia care at “All India Institute for Medical Science” (AIIMS) in Delhi. During the discussions Maria raised the point of how research and education can contribute to better care for the elderly. KI:s Master's Courses in Dementia Care for Physicians and Master's Courses in Dementia Care for Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists, both in collaboration with the Silviahemmet foundation, were mentioned as an example of how education can contribute to effective and quality assured dementia care.“This is a unique master education, web-based and in English and open for any university educated health professional in the world.” said Maria Eriksdotter.
