Professor Anna Martling elected Honorary Fellow of American Surgical Association
Professor Anna Martling at Karolinska Institutet has been elected an Honorary Fellow of the American Surgical Association (ASA), one of the world’s most prestigious surgical organisations. The election was conferred at the ASA Annual Meeting in Seattle on 23 April 2026.
The distinction is awarded to distinguished surgeons who have made significant scientific and clinical contributions to their field. The ASA works to promote the highest standards in surgery through research, education and international collaboration, with a strong emphasis on ethics, equity and professional responsibility.
“I am deeply honoured by this appointment. I regard it as a recognition of the work we carry out together, and I look forward to contributing to and further developing international collaboration within surgery,” says Anna Martling, Professor of Surgery and Head of the Colorectal Surgery Research Group at the Department of Molecular Medicine and Surgery.
