Positive and stable results in KI’s 2026 Staff survey

The 2026 Karolinska Institutet Employee Survey has now been completed. The response rate was 68 per cent, providing a robust basis for continued dialogue and development of KI’s organisation and working environment. Overall, the results indicate stability and consistently high levels across several key areas.
The overall outcome for KI as an organisation is close to the results of the previous staff survey conducted in 2022. The willingness to recommend KI as a workplace (eNPS) stands at 23, which remains positive, although it represents a decrease compared with the 2022 value of 29.
All index scores* remain at high levels this year. The Employee Engagement index (78) has increased by two points since 2022, while the Leadership index (81) remains unchanged. The Organisation index has increased by one point to 70, whereas the Goals and Strategies index (74) has decreased by one point.

“I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all colleagues who have taken the time to respond to this year’s staff survey. Your engagement is essential in helping us understand what works well and where we need to strengthen our efforts. The results now form a shared starting point for dialogue and development across the entire organisation,” says Annika Östman Wernerson, Rector of Karolinska Institutet.
How the results will be taken forward
The next step is to take forward the responses you provided as a staff member. At the management level, each department’s management group, or equivalent, will conduct a results and values analysis meeting to identify shared priorities and create a solid foundation for continued development work within the organisation. How this work is organised will be decided locally by each department or equivalent unit.
* The Staff Index is an overall measure showing the combined and average score of the four underlying index areas: Employee Engagement, Leadership, Organisation, and Goals and Strategies.
