Ola Nilsson strengthens KBH's research within pediatric endocrinological diseases
From the coast of Bottenviken to the Department of Women's and Children's Health. Ola Nilsson is an active, archipelago-loving, solution-oriented researcher with a solid background in paediatrics and joined as a new professor at KBH in September.
Early in his medical career, Ola realized that pediatric endocrinology was a fascinating subject that is constantly evolving. The subject provides a unique mix of challenges, from exciting physiological and biochemical processes to navigating complex ethical dilemmas. Above all, it´s an area where you can make a big difference for the patients.
Lack of development in children is a common concern and reason for referral to pediatric endocrinology clinics. Behind this seemingly simple concern lies a multitude of underlying causes, including a spectrum of congenital skeletal diseases and syndromes.
"In my research, I focus on improving diagnostic methods for these conditions. I also devote myself to exploring the underlying mechanisms that cause these diseases, with the aim of developing new, innovative treatment methods."
Through this work, Ola aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of growth and skeletal diseases and open up new avenues for specific, effective and safe treatments for growth, skeletal and bone metabolic diseases.
"What I hope to achieve as a professor at KBH is to make good research, improve the education of young colleagues and contribute to the development of diagnostics and treatment of pediatric endocrinological conditions and diseases."
