In October 2025, the Faculty Board decided to allocate funding to NVS in a university-wide initiative to promote collaboration between environments with either a strong research profile or a strong education profile. Three of the department’s study programmes have been granted funding under this initiative.

The Faculty Board initative includes part-financing of doctoral student positions with 75% for four years, as well as funding for PhD-holding lecturers or assistant senior lecturers amounting to SEK 500,000/person and year for three years.

Maria Hagströmer, Departmental Director of Education at the Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society, welcomes the initiative:

"This strategic investment provides excellent opportunities for long-term competence provision within our study programmes. It strengthens the integration of research and education and fosters collaboration with other departments, which is crucial for maintaining and enhancing the quality of the Study programmes in Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Nursing".

Call for funding - background

Close ties between education and research are essential to a university, there being a mutually reliant relationship between them. There are environments with both a strong educational profile and a strong research profile at all KI departments, but there is not always close interaction between them. The Faculty Board has therefore decided to issue a call for funding to promote fruitful ties between such environments.
