Bernard and Barbro Osher donate USD 2,100,000 (approx. SEK 23 million) to the Osher Center for Integrative Health at Karolinska Institutet. The donation follows an earlier donation in 2005 from the same donors.

The Oshers are extending their commitment from 2005, adding an additional approximately 23 million SEK to the Osher Center for Integrative Health at Karolinska Institutet.

This latest contribution takes the form of an "endowment," signifying that the funds are intended for use over an extended period, spanning more than two decades.

"This is incredibly exciting news", says Mats Lekander, professor of health psychology at Karolinska Institutet, and director of the center. "Bernard and Barbro Osher's new gift ensure that the Osher Center for Integrative Health can continue for many years to come. We are extremely happy for the long-term trust that the Oshers has in our research."

At the Osher Center for Integrative Health, research is conducted to understand mechanisms related to subjective health experiences, such as pain, fatigue and chronic stress, and development of psychological treatment related to these areas.

The center collaborates closely with primary care and is also involved in the development and implementation of information systems to safeguard the patient's perspective in care.
