Meet our new colleague Sofia Calén, Finance Officer at NEURO

We took the opportunity to ask a few questions to get to know her a little better.

What is your role, and what will you be working on?

"I will support researchers and research groups with financial matters. This includes working with budgets, forecasts, follow-up and day-to-day financial issues. I look forward to learning more about the organisation and providing strong financial support to the research."

What are you mostly looking forward to?

"I am especially looking forward to working with finance in an organisation with such a clear and important purpose. It feels exciting to contribute with my experience in an organisation dedicated to research and knowledge. And, of course, I am also really looking forward to getting to know my new colleagues!"

What have you been up to before joining KI?

"I previously worked with finance in the media industry, where I had a broad role that included financial follow-up, year-end accounts, budgeting, forecasts and various analyses. Earlier this year, I also spent some time in Australia, where I took a course focusing on sustainability and management, among other things."

How would you describe yourself in three words?

"Curious, committed and optimistic. I easily become interested in new things, I like to put my heart into what I do, and I think I am quite good at finding something to look forward to."

When you are not at work, what do you fancy doing?

"I spend a lot of my free time singing, and I really enjoy music. Otherwise, I like exercising, especially ball sports such as tennis, but also yoga, and spending time with friends."

What is the most beautiful place you have been to?

"It is hard to choose, but a tiny white-sand island surrounded by turquoise water off Siargao in the Philippines is definitely high on the list. Insanely beautiful!"

What are you reading right now?

"At the moment, I am reading the novel Stortaxi by Flora Wiström.
