MBB’s Employee Survey – Spring 2025

In MBB’s employee survey, HR Puls, sent out on 23 April, we asked about your work environment and your work situation. 158 MBB employees answered the questions.

Overall, most of the respondents feel satisfied with their job tasks and work environment. 76% are satisfied with their job, and 78% feel their job is meaningful. 73% of the respondents feel they can influence the department/their unit/group. 80% felt they are influential and involved.

About 80% feel that the department/units/groups treat each other with respect, even when we have different opinions.

Stress and lack of recovery are areas of concern
A majority of the respondents have felt stressed lately (93%). Stress refers to a situation where you feel tense, restless, nervous, or anxious, or are unable to sleep at night because you’re thinking about job-related issues. 68 % have had their sleep disturbed frequently to very often due to job-related stress.

49% spend less than an hour per week on a physical exercise that makes them breathless, and 23% sit down for 10-15 hours per day, excluding sleep.

Based on the results, we can see that there is room for improvement, and we will therefore focus on health and well-being throughout the autumn. It is also important to understand that, on an individual level, each person holds significant responsibility for their health and well-being.

Don’t forget to take your vacation
Taking a vacation is essential for getting the rest and recovery you need. For full-time employees at KI, it is both a right and an obligation to take at least 20 vacation days per year.

Make use of your wellness allowance and the various training facilities on campus
We would also like to remind you that all employees are entitled to a wellness allowance of SEK 3,000 per year, and that MBB covers this cost (use project number C287008012 when registering in Primula). You can read more about what qualifies as wellness activities here.

As an employee, and if operations permit, you may also participate in wellness activities during working hours, subject to agreement with your immediate manager. Read more here.

Everyone has access to campus-based training through Hälsohubben, which offers a gym, fitness classes, sports activities, courses, tennis courts, and more. Learn more here.

Engage in dialogue about the work environment and health
We encourage all employees to maintain an ongoing dialogue with their immediate manager about the work environment and provide constructive suggestions for improvements.

Karolinska Institutet offers staff support to all employees, scholarship-funded doctoral students, and postdocs at KI, including telephone counseling. Read more here.
