Karolinska Institutet has appointed an advisor to President Annika Östman Wernerson for co-operation with the healthcare sector. On 1 December, Maria Eriksdotter, professor at the Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society, will take up this position.

Maria Eriksdotter has been tasked by President Annika Östman Wernerson to coordinate Karolinska Institutet's collaboration with the healthcare system at an overall and strategic level. She will also further develop internal and external work in this area.

Knowledge transfer and skills development for future key personnel at KI are part of the assignment. However, the assignment does not include life science and biobanks.

The assignment primarily involves

  • leading the work in internal fora, including KI-KLIN, which brings together people within the collaborative organisation
  • representing KI in external forums, such as the national steering group for ALF, and in overall collaboration on healthcare issues with Region Stockholm and with municipalities
  • to represent KI as one of several members of the management group Karolinska Institutet - Region Stockholm

Vice President Martin Bergö will leave some of the healthcare issues he currently works with, among other things, to take greater responsibility for issues linked to internationalisation. Martin Bergö will continue to be a member of the Karolinska Institutet - Region Stockholm management team, as well as working on issues relating to business collaboration and biobanks.
