Clarivate has unveiled its 2024 list of Highly Cited Researchers, recognizing individuals whose work has had significant global influence in their fields.

Researchers from Karolinska Institutet (KI) are among those honored, highlighting their outstanding contributions to science and medicine. This recognition is based on analysis of citation data from the Web of Science, which identifies researchers with extensive influence through widely cited publications.

Magnus Ingelman-Sundberg's research is about molecular toxicology. His research description reads: New genetic factors are identified that may pose pharmacogenomic biomarkers for individualization of drug therapy. Currently special emphasis is but on the role of rare alleles and reasons behind the missing heritability. A novel 3D spheroid system for studying liver function for 5 weeks is used to analyse control of hepatic gene expression, mechanisms of drug mediated enzyme induction and hepatotoxicity and for studying liver diseases like steatosis, hepatitis and fibrosis. Special emphasis is put on discovery of novel drug targets for these diseases.

The 2024 list includes over 6,600 researchers from various disciplines worldwide, reflecting exceptional impact and the dissemination of knowledge in critical areas. The inclusion of researchers from KI underscores the institute's commitment to advancing medical science and innovation.
