KI researcher Sten Linnarsson awarded distinguished professor grant

Professor Sten Linnarsson, Karolinska Institutet, has been awarded a distinguished professor grant by the Swedish Research Council totalling just over SEK 30 million for the period 2026–2033.
The Swedish Research Council has decided on the applications to be awarded grant for distinguished professor grant within medicine and health 2025. A total of nearly SEK 62 million has been granted to two researchers for the period 2026–2033.
One of these is Professor Sten Linnarsson, research group leader at the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics, KI, and dean of KI Solna. The project is entitled ‘A hidden early seed phase in human glioblastoma’.
The aim of the distinguished professor programme is to create conditions for the most prominent researchers to conduct long-term, ground-breaking research with great potential for achieving scientific breakthroughs.
The grant shall also enable the establishment and build-up of a major research environment of the highest quality around a leading researcher.
