KI professor recognised for influential social media presence
In less than two years, Professor Robert Harris at Karolinska Institutet has reached more than 16 million people through his engagement on the social media platform LinkedIn. He has now been admitted to Le Centile, an exclusive international network for leading digital creators.

The name Le Centile means one hundredth, i.e. the top one per cent, and membership in the network is based on performance data from professional platforms. Previously, Robert “Bob” Harris, a professor of immunotherapy in neuroinflammation at the Department of Clinical Neuroscience, was also ranked by analytics platform Favikon as the number one STEM creator on LinkedIn in Sweden.
“With my LinkedIn posts, the visibility of Karolinska Institutet — and of myself — has been enormous, far greater than I could achieve through my research alone,” says Robert Harris. “The LinkedIn community has been very appreciative of the discussions about doctoral education and academic leadership that I have initiated.”
Published opinion piece
Through contacts made on LinkedIn, Robert Harris also co-founded The Academic Think Tank (TATT), an international community of academics. The group has already resulted in a published opinion piece in Nature Careers, focusing on ways to create healthier and more sustainable academic workplaces.
“Given the wealth of experience that senior academics have — in navigating research, education practices and academic development — more individuals could do the global academic community a service by sharing their gems of wisdom on social media,” Robert Harris says.
