What is All at FyFa?

All at FyFa is a Teams group that serves as a shared digital meeting place for the department. It’s structured into multiple channels, each with its own purpose and target audience, ensuring that communication is relevant and streamlined. To promote inclusivity and accessibility, English is the only language used in the group.

The initiative is based on a collective need for faster, more dynamic communication within FyFa. Traditional email can often be overwhelming and fragmented, and the Staff Portal lacks in dialogue opportunities —this Teams group aims to fix that.

Whether you're looking for quick updates, want to engage in discussions, ask for help with something, or simply stay in the loop, All at FyFa makes it easier to be part of the conversation. It fosters an open, inclusive culture where ideas and information can flow freely—without clogging up your inbox.

Please note, FyFa is not closing down any communication channels at this stage, just adding a new and more agile one.

House rules – keeping it constructive and welcoming

To maintain a respectful and productive environment, house rules have been created for the Teams group. These guidelines are there to ensure clear, inclusive, and professional communication across all channels. Everyone is encouraged to read the house rules before posting, so we can collectively build a space that supports open dialogue, collaboration, and a positive work culture.

Channels that keep communication clear and focused

To meet the diverse needs across FyFa, the Teams group is divided into carefully curated channels:

Channels for everyone:

  • General – An open space for everyone, covering broad topics, quick updates, and casual interactions.
  • News from the Management – Important updates and announcements from the faculty leadership, ensuring transparency and accessibility.
  • Research Support – A hub for questions, tips, and information related to research funding, processes, and opportunities.

Locked channels:

  • FyFa Managers (for managers only) – A private channel for internal discussions, coordination, and information-sharing among managers.
  • FyFa Faculty (for FyFa Faculty only) – A dedicated space for the FyFa Faculty to discuss internal matters and share faculty-specific updates.
  • FyFa Professors (for FyFa Professors only) – A dedicated space for FyFa Professors to discuss internal matters.

These channels help ensure that the right messages reach the right people—without overwhelming everyone.

Are you missing a channel? Contact the All at FyFa moderators Julia Spector or Sabina de Villiers.
