Henrik Engblom, new professor at MMK

Since the beginning of the year, Henrik Engblom holds the position as Professor of Clinical Physiology at the Department of Molecular Medicine and Surgery, Karolinska Institutet. He combines his professorship with a position as senior consultant at the Department of Clinical Physiology, Karolinska University Hospital and since 1 February he is research group leader for Clinical Physiology at MMK.

Area of research

Henrik Engblom's research vision is mainly focused on stable coronary artery disease and microvascular dysfunction of the myocardium using state-of-the-art cardiac imaging. Research vision also includes national research initiatives aimed at better understanding the link between phenotype and clinical outcome in cardiac transplant patients.

Henrik will also work to create a regional and a national cardiac MR forum to enable both prospective multi-center and registry studies in this field.

Other positions

Henrik Engblom has been chair of the Swedish Heart Association since 2019 and since 2016 he is the scientific secretary in the Swedish Society for Clinical Physiology.
