Government to appoint new members of Karolinska Institutet board
The government commissioned a nomination committee on 15 September to draw up a list of proposed candidates for the new chairperson and three new members of the Karolinska Institutet University Board (Konsistoriet).
Last spring, the government decided to replace some members of the board. Following the recent inquiries into the Paolo Macchiarini case, it has now decided to also replace the other government-appointed members who sat when Macchiarini was working at Karolinska Institutet. In an official statement, Minister for Higher Education and Research Helene Hellmark Knutsson says that this is what is needed to restore confidence in Karolinska Institutet.
The current members will remain in office during the nomination period until the government announces its decision.
