We congratulate David Marlevi and the Translational Cardiovascular Imaging Team on being recruited as a Data-Driven Life Science (DDLS) Fellow, and on receiving coupled long-term funding support from the DDLS program.

The purpose of the DDLS fellowship is to provide long-term career and project support for top scientists in the life science domain. Being identified as lead faculty in the larger DDLS initiative, fellows will contribute through their work to advanced precision-driven health care, using advanced computational, bioinformatic, and machine learning tools to together address urgent challenges in clinical care.

“I am truly honoured to get the chance to join the DDLS program, and to bring both the translational cardiovascular imaging team and the group of clinical physiology into the DDLS community. I’m especially exciting to get the opportunity to deepen our links to fundamental biological sciences, coupling our work on clinical and translational imaging to basic biology and multiomics work, all to gain deeper insights into how cardiovascular disease develops and in what way this can be captured in a clinical imaging setting”, David Marlevi comments.

“Renewed long-term funding support is also extremely important to be able to explore more challenging or high-risk research questions, where it may take years of to reach results that in the end carry greater scientific implications”

INFO BOX: The SciLifeLab and Wallenberg National Program for Data-Driven Life Science (DDLS) program is a major national research initiative, involving 11 partner organizations across Sweden with the broad aim of combining biology, big data, computational expertise, and artificial intelligence (AI) to study living systems and advance human health. The DDLS fellow program is a career program recruiting top scientists into the national program, supporting them through tenure-track positions and a coupled funding package of 17 MSEK across 5 years, firmly establishing the fellows as key research leaders in the Swedish life science domain.
