Course in assessment of infant neurodevelopment at Karolinska

Last week a course in the "Prechtl General Movement Assessment (GMA)" method were organized at Karolinska Institutet and Karolinska University Hospital.

According to international guidelines The Prechtl General Movement Assessment is today recommended as one of the most important assessment methods for early detection of infants at high risk for cerebral palsy. It was the second time the course was organized in Stockholm, this time with three parallel courses (two at basic level and one at advanced level) for over 85 participants of various professions from all over the world. Several colleagues from Karolinska participated, primarily from the neonatal unit but also from other units. Responsible for the arrangement were Mimmi (Maria) Örtqvist and Li Villard, Functional Area Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy, Solna, and the Women’s and Children’s department, KI.
