The Olle Söder Award and Research Scholarships was presented at a Ceremony at Karolinska University Hospital.

This year, the Olle Söder Award went to Associate Professor and Pediatric Endocrinologist Annika Janson from the National Center for Childhood Obesity at Astrid Lindgren Children's Hospital. The award was given in recognition of Janson’s focus on children with obesity, a significant public health issue, and her active communication of knowledge in this field over many years. She is also one of the authors of the educational book "Overweight Children: A Handbook for Parents and Professionals."

At a ceremony held on November 6, 2024, at Karolinska University Hospital, the 2024 Olle Söder Award and fall research scholarships were presented by the Foundation for Children's Research at Astrid Lindgren Children's Hospital. The foundation’s chairperson, Hans Curman, described the background of the Olle Söder Award, which is annually given to an individual who "methodically and scientifically conveys evidence-based medical knowledge with wide reach."

This is the second year the award has been presented; last year, it was awarded to Professor Petter Brodin, a pediatrician at Astrid Lindgren Children's Hospital and Karolinska Institutet.

More information about the research fields of the scholarship recipients can be found on the Foundation for Children's Research website.
