Collaborative prevention project between Karolinska Institutet and Stockholm region receives funding from The National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen)
The National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen) has distributed 2 MSEK during 2019 to support a collaborative project between Karolinska Institutet and Region Stockholm.
Tanja Tomson, Associate Professor in Public Health Sciences at the Department of Learning, Informatics, Management and Ethics at KI is the project leader.
During 2019, the project group will develop a strategy for implementing a new treatment called Tobacco Cessation on Prescription with a focus on preventing mental ill health. The plan is to carry out and evaluate the implementation in primary health care centres in the Stockholm region during 2020.
“Our aim is to carry out development work to prevent and treat unhealthy lifestyles for patients suffering from mental illness”, says Tanja Tomson. The goal is to reduce the incidence of tobacco use in patients with mental illness who visit primary care in the Region of Stockholm.
