Charlotte Ytterberg receives SEK 2.7 million from the Kamprad Family Foundation

Charlotte Ytterberg, at the Division of Physiotherapy, has been awarded SEK 2.7 million in continued funding from the Kamprad Family Foundation for the project Improved Communication in Healthcare – Implementation of Teach Back.

The project aims to implement the conversational method Teach Back across the entire Capio Geriatrics Dalen through a tailored training and implementation package based on the results of the research project “Missing Link”. Teach Back helps healthcare professionals and patients better understand each other, which can reduce misunderstandings and improve the quality of care. In collaboration with staff, researchers from Karolinska Institutet will co‑create a package that can be used directly in clinical practice without the researchers’ ongoing support. Two wards will initially pilot the training and the method in their daily work. Based on their experiences, the materials will be revised before being rolled out across the entire hospital. The project will evaluate both staff experiences and whether Teach Back can reduce readmissions and increase patient satisfaction.
The project period runs from 1 September 2026 to 31 August 2028.
