Cecilia Radkiewicz has been appointed docent in cancer and oncology

Cecilia Radkiewicz was appointed docent in Cancer and Oncology on November 18, 2025.
She combines a postdoctoral position in Professor Jesper Lagergren’s research group for upper gastrointestinal surgery at Karolinska Institutet with clinical work as Associate Senior Physician in Oncology at Capio Sankt Göran’s Hospital.
Dr. Radkiewicz primarily conducts research in clinical cancer epidemiology and manages large datasets with linked individual-level information from Swedish and Nordic health registers, enabling robust longitudinal analyses. She is the principal investigator for Swedish Anti-Cancer Therapy (SeACT), an academic initiative that collects Swedish medical record data on cancer drugs from electronic prescribing systems for pharmacoepidemiological studies. The aim is to study short- and long-term effects, safety, and access to cancer drugs at the population level.
Dr. Radkiewicz has a strong commitment to medical education and supervision. During her oncology residency, she was a lecturer and seminar leader for medical students at KI and served as the lead instructor for the palliative medicine course in 2017/2018. She has supervised several oncology residents and, since 2024, has been course director for the Swedish Oncological Society’s recommended course in medical science for oncology residents. Between 2020–2022, she was program director for the doctoral school in epidemiology for clinicians (KI–Region Stockholm), where she still teaches clinical PhD students. She currently co-supervises two PhD students and regularly lectures in doctoral courses on study design as well as the master’s program in biostatistics at KI.
Dr. Radkiewicz looks forward to continuing as a clinical researcher in Region Stockholm and to teaching and supervising PhD students and medical students at KI, with the ambition of combining clinical expertise with research and education to improve cancer care.
