Speaker

Bjarne Winther Kristensen, MD, PhD, is Clinical Professor at BRIC, University of Copenhagen and Head of the Bartholin Institute and Consultant Neuropathologist at the Department of Pathology, Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen University Hospital. Professor Kristensen’s research aims to understand the molecular pathology and microenvironment of glioblastoma, one of the most aggressive and treatment-resistant brain cancers, with the goal of identifying new biomarkers and therapeutic strategies. His group integrates daily clinicopathological insight with spatial transcriptomics, single-cell technologies, multiomics, immunohistochemical multiplexing, genome-wide methylation profiling, digital pathology, and patient-derived in vitro and in vivo models. His recent work has provided new insight into glioblastoma infiltration, intratumoral heterogeneity, recurrence, and microenvironment-driven therapy resistance.
