Wendell Lim (University of California, San Francisco) is a pioneer in synthetic cell biology, developing approaches to reprogram cellular signalling and engineer immune cells with programmable therapeutic functions. His laboratory is applying these principles to glioblastoma, engineering T cells that can recognize the brain tumour microenvironment to improve the specificity and persistence of glioblastoma-targeted T-cell therapies.

Sten Linnarsson (Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics, Karolinska Institutet) is a pioneer in single-cell transcriptomics, developing methods to map cell types and states across the developing and adult brain. His laboratory is applying these approaches to glioblastoma to uncover how tumour cells interact with their surrounding tissue and how their molecular states and spatial organization can reveal new therapeutic opportunities.
