About ELSA-Brasil and the speakers

The ELSA-Brasil is a multicentric cohort of civil servants (35–74 years at baseline) conducted at six research centres in three regions of Brazil, including the Northeast, South, and Southeast. These centres are located at five federal universities and the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation. 

Dr. Rosane Harter Griep is a professor in the Epidemiology Postgraduate Program at the National School of Public Health (ENSP), part of the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. As an expert in work environment research, she focuses on health inequalities among working populations, with a particular focus on work-life imbalance, psychosocial determinants of health, and working conditions and aging.

Dr. Sheila Alvim is a nutritionist and epidemiologist. She is a Professor in the Public Health Postgraduate Program at the Institute of Collective Health (PPGSC/ISC), Universidade Federal da Bahia, Brazil. Her research focuses on Nutritional Epidemiology and explores social and environmental determinants of health, health inequalities, and the integration of social and biological knowledge to uncover causal explanations for health outcomes across the life course and in aging.
