Welcome to a KIND Open Webinar with Dr Alex Hendry from the Department of Experimental Psychology at the University of Oxford. The webinar will be held in English.

Autism and ADHD are often associated with difficulties with Executive Functions (EFs), such as inhibitory control and cognitive flexibility, in childhood and adulthood.
- My recent work indicates that difficulties with some aspects of EF begin as early as toddlerhood for children with a family history of autism or ADHD and children already showing autistic traits, says Dr. Alex Hendry. However, I also find evidence for strengths in problem-solving among toddlers with a family history of ADHD or elevated ADHD-relevant traits.

START (Supporting Toddlers with a connection to autism or ADHD to develop strong Attention, Regulation and Thinking skills; www.startproject.info) is a neurodiversity-affirming parent-toddler programme that aims to support toddlers to thrive by building on their existing strengths and interests, whilst fostering the development of their EF skills.
- In this talk I introduce the co-development process of START, outline the rationale behind START’s three psychosocial mechanisms of change, and share results from pilot evaluations of the programme, says Dr. Alex Hendry
