Lectures and seminars Controversies in Neurology_på svenska - Is ALS a Metal Intoxication?

Karolinska Institutet is pleased to invite you to a seminar under the theme Controversies in Neurology_ på svenska. This event is the first in a series of three seminars focusing on neurodegeneration and will take place in Stockholm on August 26, 2025. The meeting will open with representatives from Lundbeck’s Neurology Division, followed by two presentations by Dr. Roos and Professor Zheng. The program and topics have been developed in close collaboration with the speakers.
The question of what causes ALS has engaged neurologists around the world for over a century. In this seminar, we will explore the hypothesis that environmental chemical exposure contributes to the development of ALS, and present examples of potential exposure pathways.
The discussion will be deepened through a presentation of a newly discovered mechanism for regulating toxicity in the choroid plexus.
Following the presentations, there will be an opportunity to contribute patient cases to the ongoing metal-related research at the Department of Neuroscience.
