Annika Niehrs, Thomas R. Müller and Andrea Fossati awarded the Jonas Söderquist scholarship 2025

The Committee for Research at Karolinska Institutet has decided on recipients from the Jonas Söderquist scholarship foundation for basic research in virology and immunology. The awarded are Annika Niehrs and Thomas R. Müller at the Department of Medicine, Huddinge, and Andrea Fossati at the Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology.

"Dr. Annika Niehrs has performed multiple studies on the role of NK cells in different human disorders and is now awarded for exploring predictive immunologic parameters in blood and tissues for guiding treatment of chronic Hepatitis B virus infection."

"Dr. Andrea Fossati is awarded for his work applying co-fractionation mass spectrometry to characterize phage-host interactions at a new level, and its application to phage therapy against bacterial infections."

The Jonas Söderquist scholarship

Jonas Söderquist's scholarship is annually awarded one to three talents for further research in virology and immunology.
