Anna Martling appointed Dean of Campus North

We congratulate Professor Anna Martling, research group leader of the group of Colorectal Surgery at the Department of Molecular Medicine and Surgery, who has been appointed Dean of Campus North in Karolinska Institutet's new management organisation.

Anna Martling is Professor of Surgery at Karolinska Institutet and Senior Consultant Colorectal Surgeon at Karolinska University Hospital. Since 2008 she has been research group leader and responsible for the research field of colorectal surgery with special focus on clinical, translational and epidemiological studies on colorectal cancer.

The assignment as Dean applies from January 1st, 2019 and runs for four years. The assignment includes i.a. to represent and act as spokespersons in the line organisations for the departments in their departmental group. The Deans are to ensure that the decisions of the Faculty Board and all other general university decisions are implemented at the departments as part of the operational responsibility of the departmental heads. The Deans also have responsibility for coordination and efficiency measures in their departmental group and its interface with the healthcare sector (SLL), corporate sector, international actors and the like.

The 22 departments will be divided into the following three groups and each group being led by a dean:
