You can now find all KI's docents in KI RIMS
Do you need to find a docent at KI in a specific subject area? You can easily extract a list in KI RIMS. Just as KI's research information system has been open for a year, the report ‘Docents at KI’ is released, which lists both employed and affiliated docents at KI.
On 25 October, KI's new research information management system, KI RIMS, has been operational for one year. The launch was preceded by several years of work to investigate needs and explore options to find the right solution to manage KI's research information. The purpose of KI RIMS is to collect, improve and visualise information about KI's ongoing and completed research.
Now, just in time for the one-year anniversary, a new report that has been requested for a long time is launched. The report is a list of all KI's docents, both employed and affiliated and can be filtered in different ways based on your needs. For example, you can sort by field of research or filter out an institution. A complete, filterable list like this has not been available before.
Jonas Molander, former project manager for the project ‘System Support for Research Information’, says the following about the completion of the work to compile a list of all docents at KI:
"This makes me very happy! The work that led to this type of result is exactly what the Information Management Strategy identified as the most important thing of all. When we ensure that our way of working leads to structured data in well-designed systems, we never have to put in the same information twice, and the information is searchable and reusable!"
The report ‘Docents at KI’ lists all KI employees who have the title docent registered in either Primula or UBW-anknutna.
If you discover any information that is incorrect or missing, please contact the KI RIMS support at kib@ki.se.
Watch instructions on how to retrieve the report in the short instructional film ‘Open and filter the "Docents at KI" report in KI RIMS’ (2 mins).
Over the past year, the work on KI RIMS has been conducted both as a project and in ongoing management. The focus of the Realisation Project has been to:
- Finalise selected activities that were deprioritised in the previous project.
- Enable a transition to stable management within the Digitization Portfolio by 2025.
- Explore new opportunities for the system and develop a basis for future choices.
The work continues. One year is not a long time to get a new system up and running and make it a part of KI's daily operations. We are following up how the system is being used, gathering feedback from users, and identifying their evolving needs to continue improving the system. The goal is to reuse information and minimize manual work within the system, and this takes time.
Keep an eye on the KI RIMS pages to see what's coming up! For those who are not yet familiar with the system, introductory sessions are planned for later this fall.
