New postdoc at the Division of Family Medicine and Primary Care, NVS.

What is your mission at NVS?/What will you be working with?

I will be working with microbiome studies and –omics data investigating the gut-kidney-cardiovascular axis as part of Professor Johan Ärnlöv’s group.

What do you look forward to the most in your new position?

I look forward to analyze and gain experience with urinary and gut –omics data, focusing on its relation with kidney and cardiovascular diseases as part of one of the largest cohorts up to date: the Swedish CArdioPulmonary bioImage Study (SCAPIS).

Where have you been active before and what have you done earlier?

My previous experience involves Clinical Microbiology and Bioinformatics. I obtained my PhD in Microbiology in Barcelona (Spain) where I come from. I moved to Sweden and I worked as a postdoctoral where I come from. I moved to Sweden and I worked as a postdoctoral fellow working with antimicrobial resistance at The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. Apart from that, I recently pursued a MSc in Bioinformatics at Uppsala University.

When you are not working, what do you do for recreation?

I love to cook while listening to the radio, going to the gym and dancing Cuban salsa.

Are you reading a book at the moment? Which one?

Yes, I have just started reading “The hundred-year-old man who climbed out the window and disappeared (Hundraåringen som klev ut genom fönstret och försvann)” by Jonas Jonasson, book from a second-hand store.

Tell us about the most beautiful place you have visited?

It is difficult to choose only one! The world is incredibly stunning and I would like to mention some special places such as Abisko National Park, the Pyrenees, the Scottish Highlands or the coastal fishermen villages in the Mediterranean coast.

What makes you happy?

I am happy with small details that make big differences: tasty food, nice coffee smell, good company, ambient music, a catchy book and unexpected good news!
