The first university management meetings were held with KI DS and LIME
This spring, the university management will be visiting KI’s departments in a series of meetings, the focus of which will be not only their activities but also how we at KI can strengthen dialogue and cooperation going forward. The meetings series kicked off with KI DS and LIME on 17 January.
"It’s great being president," said Annika Östman Wernerson at the first departmental meeting of the spring at the Department of Clinical Sciences, Danderyd Hospital (KI DS). "But it’s also a challenge for us, as relatively new members of the university management, to be up on every aspect of the university. I believe that these departmental meetings will be a great help."
Meetings from January to May
President Annika Östman Wernerson, Vice-President Martin Bergö and University Director Veronika Sundström are facing an intense spring, during which they will visit all departments in the four months from mid-January to mid-May.
The meetings will centre on the departments’ own descriptions of what they do, as well as KI’s future work and how we can strengthen dialogue and collaboration.
Another focal point will be KI’s nine strategic focus areas, which are pivotal to our achieving the objectives set out in Strategi 2030.
First up, KI DS
At the first meting of the spring, held at KI DS, the KI management team were given examples of research, education and learning theory.
The departmental management, among them Head of Department Tomas Jernberg and Administrative Manager Anna Däckfors, received the visitors and gave a comprehensive presentation of the department, including its strengths and challenges.
"One of our obvious strengths is our strong, integrated collaboration with Danderyd Hospital, while a challenge is how we are to do grow research and education with a steadily rising intake of patients," Professor Jernberg told the meeting.
A mobile meeting at LIME
Next in line was the Department of Learning, Informatics, Management and Ethics (LIME), where the departmental management presented its activities, research and education with a tour of the department, giving the visitors a taste of what it is like to be a multidisciplinary department, with all the advantages and difficulties this entails.
"We believe that LIME’s strong expertise in the financing and organisation of the healthcare system can make a significant contribution to KI’s partnership with Region Stockholm and to KI’s activities in general," said Clas Rehnberg, acting head of LIME.
Meetings in February
The series will continue in February with meetings at the Department of Clinical Research and Education, Stockholm South General Hospital (SÖS), the Department of Clinical Science, Intervention and Technology (CLINTEC), the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology (FyFa), the Department of Neuroscience (Neuro) and the Department of Microbiology, Tumour and Cell Biology (MTC).
