Thank you for attending the Introduction to Biomedicum on September 28

“Knowledge is power” and with the right knowledge about storing chemicals, how to act in the event of a fire, how to best share a lab or how to report an incident, we create a work environment that is good for you, me and the environment.

Questions and answer from the introduction seminar

Q: How many people in total work in Biomedicum?
A: App. 1300 persons and there is room for another 300.

Q: Do I have access to the whole building if I get access to the entrance?
A: If you are working in Biomedicum, you do have access to the entrance and the quarters, with some exceptions. Please contact your supervisor or HR if you need access to additional facilities.

Q: Is the FM service for everyone?
A: Yes. If you have your workplace in Biomedicum, you pay the FM-fee and thereby you can use all service provided by FM.

Q: Is there a list of all products in Supply Center?
A: Yes click on the  link to get access to a shared document where all the products are listed.

Q: Do I need a permission from FM to use the CMR-room?
A: No. But you need to perform a risk assessment working with CMR-classified chemicals. You also need to investigate if there is a possibility to substitute the CMR-classified chemical with a less hazardous chemical.

Q: What is the average number of alarms per month for low temperature freezers? How many alarms are false?
A: Several alarms per day, but we have not counted them. Most of the alarms do not need action from FM in terms of emptying the freezer.

Q: Is there a template to write a risk assessment?
A: Yes, depending on what needs to be risk assessed there are different templates. Read more on Biomedicum Staff Portal.

Q: Do you have -20 emergency freezers?
A: No, no designated –20 freezers for evacuation. But we have a -20 freezer that can be borrowed in case you need to defrost your freezer. There is also a -20 room on floor 2 for emergency evacuation of -20 freezers.
