Title: World-wide trends and inequalities in cancer survival and their application to public health policy

Speakers

Abstract

Professors Allemani and Coleman are in the Cancer Survival Group at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. They conduct high-impact research with the aim to quantify, describe and explain global patterns and trends in cancer survival. This joint event is a collaboration with the Research School for Clinicians in Epidemiology and poses a unique opportunity for other clinical as well as methodological researchers at Karolinska Institutet with an interest in epidemiology, vital statistics, public health, and/or cancer. The interactive seminar will cover global/public health policy, research-policy relationships and international comparisons, health inequalities and disease control, epidemiology, and statistical tools for survival analysis. The focus will be on principles and concepts of methodology, including the extension to global and public health policy rather than a detailed understanding of biostatistical modelling. The overarching aim is to provide a solid introduction to and increase understanding of global health research at Karolinska Institutet.
