Sentenced researcher no longer affiliated with KI
[NEWS 2012-07-10] Following a verdict against the researcher involved in a high-profile attack during the early summer, Karolinska Institutet has now terminated his affiliation with the university. The man had been in custody since the end of May, and on 10 July 2012 he was sentenced by Södertörn District Court to five years in prison.
The man had previously been employed by Karolinska Institutet, but had been working at another university for the last few years. Through an element of cooperation with his previous research team at KI, he has been affiliated with the university via a declaration of affiliation, which provides access to certain resources at KI, such as the library and e-mail services.
In addition to more than 4,500 employees, Karolinska Institutet also has organised collaboration with over 3,300 individuals through declarations of affiliation. This is a common form of collaboration for researchers employed by the county council, for example, or affiliate professors that are not formally employed by the university.
