Scholarships to KI:s global students
For the eight year in a row, Karolinska Institutet’s Global Master’s Scholarship has been awarded to Master’s students from outside Europe.
This year, seven of 1,500 applicants were presented with their scholarship, worth between SEK 180,000 and 360,000. The scholarships cover the students’ tuition fees and the money comes from the Swedish Council for Higher Education (UHR). The scholarship is entirely qualification-based and considers the student’s grades, work experience, research experience and a motivational letter that the students write themselves and attach to their applications.
The president Ole Petter Ottersen presented the scholarships at a ceremony held on October 16 in Aula Medica. Gunilla B. Karlsson Hedestam from the Nobel committee held an appreciated talk about Alfred Nobel and about this year’s Nobel Prize in physiology.
