Ventilation work and power shutdown in Neo, May 14th to 15th, 2022
During the weekend 14th to 15th of May there will be ventilation work and a power shutdown in Neo. It is recommended that no lab work should be done during the weekend and computer and equipment sensitive to electrical disturbances should if possible be turned off.
The power shutdown on May 14th and 15th will be performed on all power outlets in Neo, including back up power.
This is because it is necessary to shut down each power distribution central to test it, including the backup power centrals, but each outage will hopefully only be for 5 to 15 minutes or less.
Once the work on one central has been completed, the testing will move on to the next, meaning that while no single shutdown will be very long, the disturbance will take some time before all work has been completed.
The ventilation disturbances will probably take longer, expected 30 to 60 minutes per section and will probably be performed mostly separately from the power shutdowns.
During the ventilation disturbances fume hoods, fume benches, ventilated cabinets etc will cease to function properly and safely working in, or near, them will most likely not be possible.
A cursory check of some equipment, such as low temperature freezers, will be done by the Neo service group in conjunction with the shutdown, but all research groups are recommended to check all their critical equipment, such as incubators and freezers on Monday morning after the shutdown.
