New working model for the follow-up and reporting of EU-funded research projects

The financial follow-up and reporting of EU-funded research projects at KI was decentralised last year from the Grants Management Office (GMO) to the departments. The departments now assume greater responsibility for financial project administration, with the support of specialist coordinators at the GMO, whose role includes ensuring financial compliance.

To facilitate the introduction of the new working and procedural model, the GMO has been performing handovers with each affected department where the principal investigators are active, a process that will conclude in the beginning of this year. The handovers are being performed in consultations between the GMO’s head of office, Rikard Lingström, and each department’s administrative manager.

Through its support and review services, the GMO now has a specialist function designed to help ensure financial compliance in KI’s EU-funded research projects. Amongst other reforms, the GMO now coordinates a network of departmental project administrators and economists for the sharing of experiences and development of work methods.

Information about the GMO on the Staff portal has been updated to including how the GMO works with the departments.

The GMO is one of four units that make up the Research Support Office (RSO), which is led by Björn Kull.
