New thesis on biliary tract cancer
Carl Kilander at the research group Upper GI Surgery will defend his thesis "Aspects of biliary tract cancer : incidence and reproductive risk factors" on January 27, 2017. Main Supervisor is Omid Sadr-Azodi.
What's the main focus of your thesis?
The thesis concerns biliary tract cancer, more specifically how well the cancer register covers the disease and if hormones influence the risk of developing biliary tract cancer.
Which are the most important results?
Biliary tract cancer is not decreasing in the way we previously thought. Hormones does not seems to greatly influence the risk of biliary tract cancer.
How can this new knowledge contribute to the improvement of people’s health?
The cancer register must be validated more extensively in order to validate the research based on data from the register.
What are your future ambitions?
Continue my clinical work primarily.
