Letter from the Head of Labmed #3
Dear colleagues at Labmed!
We are just now in a period where we do not really not know what will happen with the spread of COVID-19. Looking at Norway and Denmark one may expect an increase in the spread, but we just have to wait and see. The SARS-CoV-2 has surprised us many times and shown that it's extremely hard to predict how the pandemic will develop. However, the vaccines have clearly shown that they protect us against severe disease regardless of the variant spreading. Thus, the future is bright, but the road may still be bumpy.
As you have all probably seen and heard, the Swedish Public Health Agency has recently issued new restrictions in which they, among other things, once again call for distance and to avoid larger crowds in order to limit the spread of the virus. At Labmed, we always follow the Public Health Agency and KI central guidelines. These guidelines, in consultation with your immediate manager, determine how you should act at your workplace.
At Labmed, we are slowly undergoing a generational change, among other things, we have some new strong young professors. In addition, our entire business develops, for example. with new recruitments and through investments in skills development. We have a very strong infrastructure with state-of-the-art equipment. One challenge is of course the cost of the facilities (like the rest of KI) which we are constantly discussing with KI centrally and with the government, but I think it is clear that the facility has helped us in our development.
Finally I would like to thank you all for a good collaboration in 2021 and hope for a new successful 2022.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
