KI researchers awarded Honorary Doctor titles

Professor Olle Söder and Associate Professor Tommy Linné, both at the Department of Women's and Children's Health at Karolinska Institutet, have been awarded Honorary Doctor titles of Belarusian State Medical University (BSMU) in Minsk, Belarus.

Tommy Linné is initiator and coordinator of the cooperation between the two universities. The programme, which was initiated in 2009, involves research training (PhD) according to sandwich model, and to develop academic cooperation and transfer knowledge through lectures, seminars and conferences. The students’ project areas colorectal cancer, periodontology, immunology and environmental medicine have been in focus. In addition, scientific courses about ethics, research financing, planning and publishing, evidence-based medicine and translational medicine have been given. Olle Söder, paediatric endocrinologist and Head of the Department of Women´s and Children´s Health at Karolinska Institutet, has organised and lectured at these courses. Both of them are members of the Editorial Board of "Medical Journal", published by BSMU.
