Kay Sundberg new assistant professor in nursing
On 1 November 2017, Kay Sundberg took up the position of assistant professor in nursing at the Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society.
“It is important that KI and the department fill senior positions within teaching, as this benefits not only students but also patients. I am especially pleased as I have a great interest in both teaching and research and hope that I can contribute to the pedagogical and research-based development of teaching,” Kay Sundberg says.
Her general field of research deals with the patient's participation in and understanding of their own health as a component of person-centred care. This emphasises the importance of the patient's own statements and experience of living with illness and how they manage this in order to improve health and well-being.
One research project focuses on developing methods to allow patients to report symptoms and pain during treatment or while living with disease, while at the same time receiving help with these at an early stage. The project comprises several interventional studies and is carried out in close collaboration between researchers, patients and clinics.
