Karolinska Institutet mourns Nelson Mandela

Nelson Mandela was a tower of inspiration to us all.

His selfless fight for equal human worth remains a driving motivation in the continued struggle for equality and freedom, and we pay homage to him for his unique contribution to the halting of the HIV/AIDS pandemic.

It is a great honour for us that Nelson Mandela accepted the offer of an honorary doctorate from Karolinska Institutet in 2005. We mourn today the loss of a great and remarkable leader.
