Japan’s State Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), visit to Karolinska Institutet

Dr. Tsutomu Tomioka and his delegation visited Karolinska Institutet on Friday 11 December 2015.

Vice-Chancellor Anders Hamsten, Professor Maria Masucci, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for International Affairs and Professor Hans-Gustaf Ljunggren, Dean of Research, welcomed the Minister to Aula Medica for a brief introduction to ongoing collaborations with Japanese Partners.

Dr. Tomioka and his Ministry would like to see an increased mobility of students and researchers between Japan and Sweden through the strengthening of collaborations between universities and research centres. Vice-Chancellor Anders Hamsten, who visited Japan in October, reiterated the importance of further developing ongoing collaborations and enumerate several research areas of mutual interest, specifically mentioning bio-engineering as a field where Karolinska and Sweden have a lot to learn from Japan.
