Karolinska Institutet (KI) is happy to announce several internship opportunities for students from Ukraine. More than 25 research groups have announced their interest in accepting one or more students.

In response to the war in Ukraine KI’s aim and will is to do what we can to support researchers and students fleeing the war. Within the Erasmus+ traineeship programme KI can now offer students from Ukraine the opportunity to carry out a funded internship (though a stipend) at one of our research groups for the minimum of two months.

Eligible to apply are students from Ukraine who are in Sweden, came to Sweden on or after 24 February 2022, and are covered by the Temporary Protection Directive. The student should at the time of the displacement have been enrolled at a Ukrainian higher education institution, or recently graduated from a Ukrainian higher institution. Students who are interested must apply no later than the 1 October 2022.

The International Relations Office at KI has played a key role in the development of this offer.

" After much hard work and commitment, we are happy to be able to offer this opportunity for Ukrainian students fleeing the war. It is important that these students are given the chance to practice within their field and continue building their skills. KI and its research groups are highly sought after, and we are grateful that so many can accept interns within this programme. It will contribute greatly to the future of the students", says Erika Dabhilkar, Head of International Relations Office at KI.

27 research groups at KI have announced their interest in accepting 40 interns together. The length of the internship varies and so does the desired academic background of the students. In the application form, the students can apply for up to three options of interest i.e. with which research groups they would like to carry out their internship.

More information on eligibility requirements, the list of research groups and the application form can be found on the page Internship opportunities for students from Ukraine within Erasmus+.
