The “international week” course took place last week with students and teachers representing several health care professionals and countries. The course is conducted in cooperation between the Zurich University of Applied Sciences, the University of Applied Sciences in Amsterdam and Karolinska Institutet.

Participants represented medical education in India, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium, USA, Canada, Kenya, Sweden and the Czech Republic.

The international week is organized by the NVS coordinator for internationalization issues, Susanne Guidetti, and it is the third time the course is held.

“The abilities required of people working within health care include not only the professional knowledge, but also global health knowledge and cultural competence. During this mobility week we prepare our students for the future and give them an opportunity to meet with students from other cultures, learning about the health care systems of other countries as well as practicing intercultural competences”, says Susanne Guidetti, who is also working as a senior lecturer at the Division of Occupational Therapy.

In total, 27 students and 12 incoming teachers participated.
